This is what I've done with the big stack as well, very successful so far - pretty much bet any playable hand hard enough that even a call will pot commit them, then if you don't hit the flop you can get away from the hand and all you've lost (hopefully) are the pots you've just bought. If your big-stack, I would prefer raising than limping. Probably the bully stealer wants to avoid any confrontation and has a likely chance to fold.
